Found this while randomly surfing during breaks between assignments. This is one of the best explanations of lighting I have come across, easy to understand, no fluff, great examples. If you're into photography or videography and want to know more about lighting, watch it. It's worth your 7 minutes. Add Comment Candid shot of a beautiful lady and her smartphone. Had to pump the ISO up as she was back-lit BUT I just loved the colors! Ok ... after resisting for years and I mean YEARS, I gave in and got myself a smartphone with a data plan. My clients and friends were like, eh, 2012 and you're still using the same Nokia you bought 8 years ago with hardly any functionality except phone and SMS??? ARE YOU KIDDING? So ... I finally got myself a Samsung Tab 7.7 last month and now I know Whatsapp isn't "What's that App?" Yes, I'm slow, I know. Ha ha. Now, if I can only figure out how to stop the phone from calling people accidentally... Studio Shoot with Wee Seng, another cool dude! Somehow, I felt that this lady's features had a timeless, eternal quality to it. So I had fun with the post processing... :) Does she give you the same feeling too? Marina Bay Sands Sky Park is oh so beautiful and I'm not just talking about the view from one of the highest peaks in Singapore of the surrounding business district. I love every part of the sky park, it is so beautifully designed. - SkyPark Public Observation Deck cantilever Even the slight drizzle wasn't about to stop me from capturing the beautiful scene. When the allotted time was up, I really could not bear to leave this wonderland in the sky. It was awesome and a night that I will remember for a long time. To the kind folks of Marina Bay Sands and URA, thank you for hosting us last night!!! :) "My Right Eye" (MREiaVF) is proud to be Official Festival Photo AmBAYssadors for i Light Marina Bay.21/03/2012 Press Release March 5, 2012 "My Right Eye is a ViewFinder" (MREiaVF) is honoured to be invited to be an Official Festival Photo AmBAYssadors for i Light Marina Bay. i Light Marina Bay, Asia's first and only sustainable light art festival was first held from 15 October to 7 November in 2010. Presented by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and organised by Smart Light Singapore (SLS), the event celebrated Marina Bay's nightscape through the showcase of 25 dynamic and innovative light art installations along the 3.5km waterfront promenade. The installations made use of energy-efficient lighting and created awareness for energy-saving lighting technology for the urban environment. The "Switch Off, Turn Up" campaign kicked off a programme supported by Marina Bay stakeholders to Switch Off non essential lighting and Turn Up air-conditioning temperatures for the festival period. This initiative has come about to offset energy usage and promote energy savings from lighting. Programmes and fringe activities targeting families, students, industry professionals and the general public were also planned as part of the Festival. The inaugural festival was a substantial success and was attended by more than 433,000 visitors over a three-week duration, of which approximately 71,031 were international visitors. This second edition of i Light Marina Bay, is held from 9 March to 1 April 2012. Themed "Light Meets Asia", the sophomore will feature more than 30 innovative and environmentally sustainable light art installations, with a strong focus on works from Asia. The Festival's curatorial team is helmed by Festival Director Mary-Anne Kyriakou, and includes two co-curators: Charmaine Toh, a Singapore visual arts curator; and the team from Singapore award-winning design studio FARM. In line with the theme "Light Meets Asia", the curatorial team has selected the sustainable light art installations from over one hundred submissions. The final selection of installations features a strong representation from new, emerging, and well-known artists from countries across Asia, including Singapore. Apart from the visually arresting and interactive sustainable light art installations, visitors to i Light Marina Bay 2012 can look forward to a full array of complementary programmes and activities – including a night carnivals, outdoor performances, guided tours, educational talks and workshops – all to ensure that there is something for everyone. This time, using the D7000, in extreme low and complex lighting conditions. Here are some images, enjoy! :) Check out these South West CDC Drummers @ iLight Marina Bay 2012. By the time I had a chat with them, they had already been walking and drumming for almost 3 hours. Talk about sore feet, backs and hands, I take my hat off to them. No more complaining about my heavy tripod any more... :) http://www.MIndChicPhotographers.com/ |
